Mod post

Give y'all something to do while plurk is down!

This is about plots, generally. How to get involved, and a major shift in the future of the rp (in a good way.)

So the first is fairly simple. If you have an idea to get involved, just bring it to us! We try to be as open as possible, within the confines of a dystopian dictatorship under constant surveillance. Even if you only have bits of an idea, we can work on weaving them in with other plots!

When we make plots, we do try to make as many open hooks for people as possible, like the family visit exposes, but we are generally making plots for the whole game (or at least large majority.) So if you do want personal plot related to the metaplot, it is something you need to bring to us. And please do! Some awesome and surprising things come from player plots. Thought the general course of the game is set, we do have wiggle room for things to move in different ways.

AND SPEAKING OF WHICH!

We would like to introduce District 13 as an area to play.

But it is going to be a bit of a bump for a bit, and we are still working out the ins and outs of how.

But, what is generally the idea right now is that, through some mean or another, Tributes (and possible some panem citizens) will start to be smuggled out to 13.

All those smuggled out will need to have been around at least one arena, and not be openly anti-rebellion/pro-capitol. 13 needs to be sure they won't be bringing over someone who's just gonna blow their whole thing, but they also can't be super choosey, because their windows to smuggle people will be limited. You could app characters with the idea to get them over there asap, but they'd have to be in the Capitol at least for an arena.

It also means canon characters and OC living in 13 will be appable.

However it ALSO means if your character volunteers, they will be, for some (hopefully short) time, in a very limited pool of CR and RP chances for awhile, and might end up being "dormant" for a bit. We are gonna try to move people over pretty fast, but we would not suggest, when it opens up, to volunteer yours super active character you need lots of CR with.

We will also try to get some sort of network/messaging system up but it will have limits (something like snail mail, or something, we're not sure yet.)

This would not be happening for a bit yet (at least till summer, maybe longer) but we are happy to hear feedback with the information here, including if this is a direction you guys are even wanting to start in? It will not end arenas (that will not happen until a point when all out war is going down) but will hopefully open another aspect of the Hunger Games world up for people to explore.

And feel free to ask questions, though right now as this is still VERY in it's beginning stages, those questions might be "IDK."

EDIT: For those canon blind, some basic info about District 13.

I am super stoked for this, however far off it is.

... Being canonblind, I know nothing about the level of technology in District 13. Is it something were a very limited radio-type network system might work? Like voice only, very geographically limited (radios don't have range forever), and no way to make posts private? I'm picturing your standard post-dystopian society, but I could be way off, obvs.

Now would people in each location still have their usual communication? Like would D13 have its own network among the people there like the Capitol has its network?

So this would just be for communication between D13 and the remaining Tributes stuck in the Capitol, correct?

Yes, that's the rough plan. 13's communicators are a bit different (they actually have them in canon, I would have to refresh, but I think they are text based) but this would just be the link between the two.

I'm not sure how practical a time delayed thing would work since it's hard to really measure out game time, with people bendytiming stuff all over. Radio would be difficult if the Capitol Tributes are being monitored since the people monitoring them would hear it.

I do have a suggestion, though: What if it's handled the same way the periodic sessions with Brainy and the hacker work? Since we were going to have them doing ones every so often where people can have encrypted private conversations.

But just like it's going to be now, it'd be only maybe 2-3 times per AC period (or less.) If the mods want to up the threat level maybe there can be some close calls where people almost wind up in danger during the times around the sessions.

So the idea would be that each time the game has a communication session between the Capitol Tributes and D13, there could be a sort of mini-event or small plot around it that different people can participate each time. Things happen like they almost get caught, or have to help hack and help keep the connection secure, or, without getting caught, have to communicate to someone who can't read that they're about to be rescued soon and have to do certain things to do it since they can't just rad it on the comms themselves.

It'd help keep the actual communication not too complicated, but still infrequent (because of the risk), and would let the mods put in the level of danger you guys are aiming for. It'd also toss people fun little mini plot situations to play with that are fraught with DANGER.

Anyway, just an idea. If you guys can figure out the logistics of snail mail or ham radio or what have you, that also does sound interesting as a concept.

well, it would be an OOC time delay, not an IC one. We'd do letter posts like every Sunday or something. We don't want to make it too infrequent/hard because, at least at the start it will be a major part of the D13 people's CR. at the same time we don't wanna tip the game to a network heavy game. It's not so much a level or danger we want to keep, as just making it so going to 13 does actually effect you.

But I think me and Lisa figured out a plan using the letters as a sort of swap in for AC for those players. So we'll have more info up when we get it ironed out.

So it'd be a regularly scheduled thing like the arenas? That makes sense. And it'd be fun to have it as a regular event to look forward to.
