D13 Status Report

Hey sports fans,
Now that D13 has experienced it's first spontaneous mission, you can expect a punishment and evaluation log to go up within about a week. Backtagging the mission is still totally alright and encouraged, but in the interest of keeping the pace and understanding what your character's will experience, we'd like everyone to know what punishments or rewards they're in for.

In order for this to happen, all D13ers will need to check into this post and rate your character's performance. It's up to you to do a small summary or just a few words, remember that D13 is looking for ruthlessness and efficiency so anything that prompts hesitation or weakness in your character would be an example of poor performance. This round in particular is special because there was no real success.

In a related note, D13 characters can expect a surprise of sorts that will be set after their punishments but the post may arrive before then. As usual, the quicker this gets done, the quicker character's can receive their evaluations. It should not impact their reactions too much, nobody will receive immediate severe punishments.

Thor's performance was extremely poor.

He lost sight of the goal, became overwhelmed, prioritised civilians and died. He did very little to help the mission.

Hannah will have been totally ruthless all the way through. If she didn't claim an ice pick from someone, she'll have gone through with finding something on the train as a weapon. However, with her failure to use the medkit given to her, her giving no attempt to help anyone teammate or civilian, and her hesitation (to possibly just not doing so?? I was going to see how the thread went and if people were okay with that) in stopping the train would've resulted in a definitive failure.

Bucky's performance was acceptable. Above the average for this particular mission. He would have been efficient and suitably ruthless, not cutthroat, but focused on the goal of the mission without allowing for distractions.

During the mission, Albert proposed a decent plan initially but prioritized civilians which caused a split in the group. While the mission failure was not technically his, he did contribute to the outcome through facilitating this split. He did attempt to assume command at the start, which also may count against him in this scenario if 13 expected Bucky to lead, though without a pre-mission briefing this was not made clear and he therefore he could be seen as showing initiative in a power vacuum.

He also disregarded the medical kit he was given, trading it immediately for a gun, though I'm not certain if this constitutes a negative or a positive in that he is proficient in firearms and he gave the kit to Joan who has advanced medical training, meaning he used what he knew of the group. During fighting he would have aimed to kill only when an ally's life was in clear and present danger, but his covering fire proved far above average, at the very least.

Albert is marked as in need of major improvement because of the clear reasoning behind his decisions but ultimate failure to live up to 13's requirements in practice.

[Honestly Albert doesn't mind being in charge of cleaning crews or anything like that, but it's the sheer idiocy of their ratings that get his hackles up and for lack of any other real way to funnel his frustration, Albert does the only thing an old man can do;

Send a strongly worded note.

So the following is pinned below his evaluation on the bulletin board not long after the results went up.]

To Whom It May Concern;

In light of this training mission's outcome, I must lodge a formal complaint for how it was presented and run and the post mission rating criteria used. My complaints are as follows:

Being expected to fulfill a mission objective when no such objective was given at the start of the exercise. This too goes for an apparently expected understanding that we should have attempted to use the tools given to us individually during the mission. In this scenario, we were given no briefing and no objective, instead made to awaken and simply react. As we took the situation to be real, it was prudent for each member of the group to play to their strengths and therefore redistribute supplies where they could be most useful. Which according to your rubric was wrong. So too, your rubric scores us on "accomplishing what was required," when we were not told what was required in the first place.

I understand the need for training exercises; I have conducted many in my own time and world, but for said exercises to be effective, they must simulate actual real-world conditions, otherwise the reactions and outcomes are not based on the traits the test is supposed to measure but instead on uncertainty and other factors.

If similar takes place again, I will be taking up by grievances in person.

Joan's performance was acceptable. She gave her weapon to someone who could actually use it, utilized her own talents to stabilize badly injured Tributes and citizens, but managed to keep from focusing on individuals to the detriment of everybody (everybody would die if they didn't deal with the train, so stopping the train/uncoupling the cars was the focus).

Wyatt's performance was needs improvement.

He started off well, trading supplies to better suit himself and the others, and was able to attack against the Peacekeepers without hesitation. But he did try to attempt to wound rather than kill, and once they got to the civilians he did agree with Albert in splitting up the team.

Carlos's performance was needs improvement. He displayed creativity and ingenuity to moderate success, and he didn't get distracted by civilians and remained focused on the goal, but he wouldn't shoot the Peacekeepers. He got pretty far before he got taken down.

Punchy's performance was extremely poor. He refused to follow orders from his teammates and made shortsighted calls to try and protect the civilians. He attempted to take charge without a plan and was generally a huge hindrance. Womp womp.

Cecil's performance was poor. He had a gun, but leftover Avox conditioning (and his own terror) prevented him from using it except by very occasional accident before someone more competent took it from him. He was willing to take initiative, but had no follow-through whatsoever. He got hung up on the civilians, torn between following orders and helping innocents. He accomplished basically nothing of use.
