when we said soon we meant right now
So about that last post! Here are the changes we are going to make:
AUs and pre-made NPCs
So we are going to allow Hunger Games AUs, with some limits:
You must have an active Tribute (or a Tribute who has won) and although all other apps are being lowered to 2 weeks, you will need to be in the game at least one Arena to have a Hunger Games AU, so we know you are familiar with the feel of the game, and will be suited to fit a character into our Capitol, and how it is different/expanded upon from the books.
In addition, if you have a canon AU version who is a Tribute, you will be expected to accept a few reasons for why the Capitol would put in one of their own. Right now we have the ideas of "You wanted it because Capitol people." and "The Capitol is using this as a warning because you are doing shit." (And we are open to more suggestions)
And, as with any AU, we will also be more stringent on these OCs.
We will also be making a more limited set of NPC, that can be adopted. A few escorts, stylists, etc. We won't be doing ALL (because to just do all the escorts/stylist/mentors would be over 50 NPCs) but there will be a handful.
PLOTS
We have a plot post now here.
We will be doing pretty much what was discussed in the comments, which...really won't be much different from how things have been. The occasional plot, that is on some level plot relevant. We will work plots from the plot post in as often as we can, either in the real game, or in memes.
LOCK DOWN PLOT
Will be happening. We are sussing out all the details right now.
POINTS
We will be increasing the points for replying to someones post/thread from 2 to 5.
AGE LIMIT
We added a rules about age limits. There is no player age limit (past Dreamwidth's rules), but we do expected everyone to respect any laws in place in their area, in regard to content. If we catch you not, it will be an instaban, because that kind of thing can get players in hot water.
App-able characters are still allowed all ages (hypothetically, of course, if a character doesn't fit they can still be rejected on a case by case basis), but we do ask there is no in game sexual content for characters under 16. We had a pretty through discussion, because we know laws vary by states, the canon contains reference to underage sex, and there are very mixed feelings about the subject out there. 16 is the age of consent in all of our states (mod-wise) and seemed a solid age that would not change the possible tone of the rp. Though we don't expect anyone currently in the rp to really push those boundaries (y'all are, once again, awesome) we realized someone could exploit it later on, and wanted to close it before anyone did.
We're happy with people exploring the darker dark side of the Capitol, and we are grateful to the mature nature the players are handling with it, and we respect that a lot.

Thanks for the note about age limits - I didn't realize the 16+ thing and started planning something out with my underage character, and it's handy to have an actual hard line somewhere. I'll be putting off such plotting until he's ICly of age. o7

Also, the age limit being 16 is pretty much canon. Iirc, they didn't mess with Finnick, even, until he hit 16.

Ok, Bill dies in like the first round of the arena, we'll say he was eaten by a T-rex. Can Bill then go spend his credit on Bob? Even though they're played by the same person? Or would that be like incest?
My only concern is that it then almost sets up a chain where people with multiple characters just naturally have more money to spend. Which they can then spend on themselves moreso than someone who only has one? Therefore almost "twinking" their one last alive character. Maybe this would be an issue down the line?
Or have I played one to many MMORPG's and therefore assume there will always be the jerks that abuse the point system?

However, by the end of the arena, saving a person is usually 1600-2800 in credits (And I think the highest in credits people have earned is around 350), so in the end, it would take multiple people joining up to save someone, and even then would be incredibly difficult. You would need at least 8 active character to join up who had not bought ANYTHING else in the arena to change the last roll. And one of them couldn't be the character dying.
And if someone does have 4 characters, and they somehow get 2800 in credits between them somehow...well, it is rewards for activity, and at that point, they earned it.
In the books, people earn gifts by being interesting, but since it's hard to measure interesting, we swapped it out for active. Katniss and Peeta swayed their game by being interesting enough, and hypothetically a player can do that same. It's just not easy.
(On the flip side, I never claim more then the bare minimum for my characters in AC, and just let the dice roll as they do, and it just as fun, so having less money doesn't really mean you lose out on anything, you just have a little less sway over your fate)
...that ended up really long. I like explaining things too much I think.

Interestingly enough, that makes having a char in the upper levels a double edged sword. You don't get rolled on till late. But if you get rolled it's WAY more expensive to get your ass out of the fire.

Exactly. And it also only saves you THAT week. Which can be horribly tragic if you die the next week.

So have apps already been lowered to 2 weeks or is this something that is planned for the future.
