The Tribute Parade & Caesar Flickerman Show!

For the first time, you're all about to get a taste of what the true Hunger Games are like. Since the quell began, there have been a lot of new and interesting events and showings to match that of the Capitol's new guests. But now, for the fifteenth arena of the seventy fifth quater quell, it's time to call back to the roots of the Games to remind our Tributes and us all what these Games really mean.

For the first time in the quell, all of you Tributes will be participating in the pre-arena chariot rides, hearing President Snow's speech, sitting down for the Caesar Flickerman show, and witnessing a very special surprise that may change how you view this next arena.

You will learn more about your Districts than you've gotten to thus far, and moreover, you will show how YOU as a Tribute, have come to represent your chosen District, as a person, the District's service, and the District's key trait and value. Key values are as follows:

1 ~ Luxury ~ Loyalty
2 ~ Masonry ~ Allegiance
3 ~ Electronics ~ Qualification
4 ~ Fishing ~ Endurance
5 ~ Power ~ Strength
6 ~ Transportation ~ Unity
7 ~ Lumber ~ Courage
8 ~ Textiles ~ Duty
9 ~ Grain ~ Commitment
10 ~ Livestock ~ Compliance
11 ~ Agriculture ~ Service
12 ~ Mining ~ Obedience

You will all ride out upon matching chariots for the Tribute Parade, Panem's anthem playing loud and fans screaming louder. This is your first chance to make a statement to sponsors. Rumors have it that there will be a later voting poll where the winning District or Districts will recieve special reward. Voting will be based of a rubric of:

-Most exemplary of District
-Best Tribute performance (putting on a good show)
-Best outfit
-Best in Parade

And of course, there will be a prize not only to the Tributes but to the District itself!

Escorts, it will be your job to make sure your Tributes are appealing to Capitol audiences You will need to help them prepare for this glorious event. Mentors, you will need to use your experience to help in ways just the same, both working to get you sponsors and give you the best chance in arena. Stylists, of course, will be responsible for the outfits made and worn.

More rumors tell of a secondary voting round where individual tributes will get a chance at receiving help from a very generous sponsor, following the Caesar Interviews.

Remember this is your chance to make a statement. It can mean the difference between life and death in the arena, and also, the difference between peace... or rebellion. All the world will be watching.

[OOC: If your characters choose to rebel, there will be consequences and ripple effects that carry through the rest of the game. Escorts, Mentors, Stylists, and other staff may be at risk of torture, avoxing, or even execution. Rescue will need to be arranged unless these consequences are fine with you. Tributes may be met with these or any number of other punishments.

On the flip side, chosing to be pro-capitol or pro-rebellion now will have lasting effects on the Game's outcome.

Choose wisely. Afterall, the Games are just games. Would you like to see what a real war is?

~~~
You are getting the chance to plan early. The final decisions post will be on August 24th at which point voting will open. The voting will close August 31st for the Chariot winners. The IC parade will not be occurring until September 13th.
If you have any questions, see here. If you are intending to do something rebellious, see here.]
Despite everything, Trish is actually pretty serious about dressing up her tributes. Some ideas include blue and green shades, accent by circles and rings. Otherwise, contrasting colors (black and white, purple and yellow, day and night colors, etc.) Basically, she'll be going for "can't have one without the other" and "parts of a whole" motifs as well-- gloves. Lock and key. Peanut butter and jelly. Alternately, since I think there are only three tributes left? Primary colors would be an option-- so red, blue, yellow.
I don't know how the other feel about primary colors, but I'm definitely up for red with Karkat. You know how it's an important color for him, and he's taken some personal symbolism in it. (His token, a necklace with his sign on it, has a small red section where it was repaired after Shepard broke it off him in the "medieval" arena.) Like, it's blood: red blood. Humans have that! Unity with humans!! Holy shit wow.
Karkat's also going to be pushing a big unity with Panem and its people thing in his interview, very purposefully, so having that extra tie in would be good.
I like the idea of circles and rings, though - look, another thing his sign fits in! - and some kind of color contrasting too. Maybe if the primaries are an accent to black and white? I don't know what would look good, or what Trish would go for there.
Primaries with black and white would work fantastic as well! Get some yin and yang symbolism in there while we're at it. Possibly something where the black and white parts are the same (e.g. white shirt black pants) but the colored part is something different? (Someone gets a blue vest, someone else gets a red cape, etc.)
And yeah, feel free to lay on the symbolism as much or as little as you'd like. The gear ring works too, gears in general, since they all need to fit together (unite!!). Puzzle pieces as well-- perhaps everyone could choose their own motif of things that fit together?
Just some ideas to throw out there, obviously feel free to take it and run with it or not.
I like that! Including the idea of different colored parts.
I keep thinking about car/vehicle parts, too. Interlinked gears, pistons working in tandem, wheels with those linking bars like on older trains? It's thematic and fits unity: any of those things alone is useless, but together they make the thing work.
Edit: On personal notes for Karkat, I like the cape thing a lot really. Also, maybe for this occasion a different necklace with its own gears? If there were a hidden back to hold the shape right, there could be large gears for the main circles of his sign, with smaller ones forming the curved arms outward. Turn a gear, look, wow, there they go working and doing the thing. Spinny spin.
(Too lazy to switch logins oops.)
Yes more capes. It could be anything though but if you like a cape, Trish will never say no to capes. :') The necklace sounds like a cool idea! I tried to google for things that might look similar but I just got a lot of pink ribbon sports gear...
CAAAAAAPE [that fuckin Karkat face emote I always abuse]
Basically I'm just leaping on the chance for symbolism and soaking it up like a motherfucker. Sign necklace made of gears for unity with D6 and the kind of unity brought by the association with the Signless's movement. The more I think on it, the more I want Karkat to do a big speech in his interview too, so I'm kind of grabbing at the cape as a mirror to god tier ascension in the way of... I don't know, finding oneself, ascending, hitting full potential? It's not even the first cape he's worn shhhh.
Does he want a silly cape like Dave's?
Because he can have a silly cape like Dave's.
I like this you have planned with duality and unity. Also, everything with Karkat is just amazing, phone guy gives his blessing for that ridiculous cape.
Pleased to meet Trish!
She is all about putting on a good show, it was kind of her schtick before. She'll gift PG his own cape if he likes them so much. :') Embroider his initials and everything...
By the way, mind if I add you on plurk? If I can ever get to plurk again, anyway.
Well, he's never had a proper cape aside from Cassidy's crowning, no initials though, he's already an idiot, Of course as soon as Plurk gets over its hangover. it's [plurk.com profile] swatpenguin
