The Binding - Player plot

District 13, blissfully unaware, is in a tight spot. The true core of the rebellion and the only available allies to those in the Capitol held under Snow's thumb. Now with just one order, it may soon be in the President's power to wipe them off the map. For real this time.

While mod sanctioned, this is a personal player plot! Participation is completely optional and will require signing up to participate. However, there is much that your character can do, not all of it necessitating any particular skill, but rather, leaving option for as many characters as possible.

Characters currently in the Capitol will be getting the opportunity to break into a Capitol facility and dismantle deadly weaponry, or otherwise help those breaking in. They will be nullifying a threat against District Thirteen and thus helping the rebellion and themselves.

Those needed will include:

-Stylists and those with similar skills. Those breaking in will need disguises so they are not recognized by security cameras. They need to be both unrecognisable, and able to preform.

-Healers. Some characters may be injured in this plot. Healers will need to see to those returning with injuries and help them to hide it from Capitol's watchful eye.

-Collectors. Healers and Stylists will require materials. These must be stealthily brought to blindspots all over the Capitol.

-Hackers and Engineers. Hackers will be needed not only to get onto the network so that the IC information can be spread (You will be contacted OOCly if you think your character would/could do this.) but also for media distractions, and overriding base passwords. Engineers will be needed to dismantle the weaponry they discover there.

-Fighters. Self explanatory. Fighters will be needed to get past peacekeepers and other security measures. They must be able to do so unarmed or have otherwise managed to sneak some small weapon along on their person.

-Leaders. Leader types will need to help guide and protect their groups. They will need to see their groups to various blindspots across the Capitol, and then on to the main facility.

-Passive Distractions. Passive distractions can be handwaved or threaded to be participating in and hosting parties, advertising campaigns, auctions, and similar events around the Capitol. They will be covering up as best the can the fact that a large number of tributes are not present in the tower, by spreading their numbers out. Those doing this are asked to state OOCly here what they will be doing (it will be used by mods later).

-Active Distractions. You are guaranteeing your character caught by the Capitol (see below for punishments). You will be putting your character on the line to help the other characters in the break-in to escape.

Please state in the sign ups if your character will be participating in this plot, and whether or not they will be participating in the break-in portion. Characters choosing to fight will be rolled via RNG to determine whether or not they are caught and if they may receive minor or major injury. Being caught can lead to imprisonment, Avoxing, punishment of loved ones, forced re-education sessions with the Capitol, brainwashing, or execution. Please specify which you are NOT willing to play. (You may be asked to put your character in a different position if punishments are non-playable.)

Sign ups will close by 11:59 PM April 12th, Sunday.

If yes, what punishments are you willing to play out if caught?: Imprisonment, re-ed, punishment of loved ones
What punishments are you not willing to play?: Avoxing, brainwashing, execution

Clara was not signed up for fighting or active distraction and will not be caught during this plot event.

In the coming days, a network post will be going up viewable only to those who’ve signed up for the plot. It is through this characters will be assigned their tasks and given the rundown of the mission. This will consist of a day or two spent collecting materials needed for the break-in, followed by the break-in itself. There will be a pre-mission thread where characters can mingle, prepare, and say their goodbyes. There will be a section for the break-in, the escape, and the return for those who manage to. The Capitol will later give a surprise of it’s own and a mysterious third party may have one as well...

Because of the nature of this plot, certain elements of the timing may be wonky. Fritz thanks you for your patience through this minor bump.

Character Name: Terezi Pyrope
Player Name: Michi
What will your character be doing?: Terezi is best suited for the Collector and/or Leader positions, given her background in strategy and knowledge of the blindspots around the Capitol. If possible, I'd like to use her association with the Peacekeepers to help towards gathering intel for this: patrol routes, stationed guards, weaknesses in the peacekeeper uniform/armor, anything that might be useful that she might have access to. She could also instruct people how to disarm or disable an opponent without killing them, just in case they get caught and don't want to be executed.
Will your character be part of the break-in portion?: Not really? Terezi wouldn't want to be part of the main assault since she's reluctant to put herself in a position to end up in jail again. She doesn't think they'll be lenient with her a second time. But if in a Leader position, she could organize supply drop-offs at the blind spots, gather information that might be available to her from the peacekeepers if needed, instruct the groups on where to go and where they'll find opposition, etc.
If yes, what punishments are you willing to play out if caught?: Imprisonment, re-education sessions
What punishments are you not willing to play?: Avoxing, execution. Brainwashing is...questionable.

Character Name: Gary Epps
Player Name: Thalia
What will your character be doing?: Collector/Passive Distraction. Gary is very good at accidentally getting into things without realizing the full ramifications of what he's doing; I could easily see someone mentioning that they need a few supplies lifted, and Gary just hops in and agrees to it because this is something he has a lot of experience in and it sounds exciting.
In terms of passive distractions, I think it's reasonable for Gary to catch wind that people are setting up a lot of fancy public events and want to get in on it himself. He'll get a particularly enthusiastic sponsor to help him set up a small, impromptu concert in one of the Capitol parks, where he'll sing many popular Capitol hits and generally make a whole hell of a lot of noise.
Will your character be part of the break-in portion?: Not anymore!
If yes, what punishments are you willing to play out if caught?: N/A

Character Name: Sam Wilson
Player Name: Bri
What will your character be doing?: Healer, Leader, or Fighter. Sam's an A+ medic and is more than capable of patching people up where the Capitol can't see. He also knows and frequents blindspot locations and would be capable of guiding a team (possibly in conjuction as a healer, if just sticking to a team of collectors, or as a fighter if moving on to the main facility).

Ultimately Sam'd go with whatever is needed most - if we have a lot of Fighter sign ups, I'll go with Healer, but if we need more Fighters, I'll sign him up for that. (OOCly I have a slight preferance for Healer/Leader, but not much of one)
Will your character be part of the break-in portion?: Only if he's being a fighter.

Character Name: Karkat Vantas
Player Name: Nabi
What will your character be doing?: Fighter and Leader, perhaps? Karkat does have leader experience, and after what Initiate showed him in the space arena, he does have knowledge of some blind spots. He has experience fighting too, augmented by the training Jane Shepard has been giving him (off-screen, but arranged ICly after the space arena with specifics worked out on plurk). He's not an amazing super fighter or anything, but the idea is he'll know enough to get by/be of use. He could probably sneak a knife with him; they've become his main weapon for lack of sickles.
Will your character be part of the break-in portion?: Yes
If yes, what punishments are you willing to play out if caught?: Imprisonment, punishment of loved ones, forced re-education. M... maaaaybe brainwashing depending what it entails/how permanent it is?
What punishments are you not willing to play?: Avoxing, execution.

Character Name: Bruce Banner
Player Name: Smurf
What will your character be doing?: Stylist/Healer. He has extensive experience with field medicine and making people look inconspicuous and unrecognizable, so he can do it just using clothing and maybe a little bit of makeup if he must.
Will your character be part of the break-in portion?: Yes and no. He has access to the Capitol surveillance system and he has a communicator that's off the grid, so he could speak with the team and keep in contact with them over what can be seen, what can't be, and where peacekeepers are. He won't share how he can do this, but he can offer to do it for them anyway to give an edge to the team if they accept it.
If yes, what punishments are you willing to play out if caught?: I'm ready to play out anything short of execution.
What punishments are you not willing to play?: Like I said, I'd prefer he not die.

Character Name: Aang
Player Name: Smurf
What will your character be doing?: Collector/fighter, but he can be talked into being an unhappy active distraction. He's very small and quiet, so he's perfect to be a collector, especially since no one would raise eyebrows at Aang of all people running around the city with a bag full of weird stuff. As a fighter, he specializes in unarmed combat and is excellent at taking down opponents larger than himself without getting hurt, and while he's adamant to not actually kill anyone, he's very good at getting his enemies to accidentally kill each other, which he doesn't consider his responsibility. Since he's twelve, though, it's possible that the person in charge of delegating tasks won't be comfortable putting him in as a fighter, so if there's a lot of convincing, he can reluctantly be an active distraction instead and do something like switch out all the peacekeeper's helmets and boobytrap streets and cover peacekeepers with stickers and start fights, but he will agree to it while making it very clear that he was unhappy with the decision.
Will your character be part of the break-in portion?: Yes, but only if the person delegating agrees. Otherwise, he'll be doing his distraction thing.
If yes, what punishments are you willing to play out if caught?: Once again, anything short of execution. Although when deciding on a punishment if he gets caught, it should be noted that he'll play dumb and say that he wasn't really aware of what was going on and he was just going along with what the grown-ups told him, since he knows what can happen and he's not above using his age to his advantage.
What punishments are you not willing to play?: Execution.

Peggy won't be involved with any of this, but if she catches wind of it, she'll feed information to D13. Is this okay?

To prevent plot exclusivity, you will be asked to handwave that Initiate interacted with and saw something useful in your character, witnessed something of the value during an arena or other filmed event, or was otherwise recommended by another character of the team for a job in rebellion. Specific to Bruce, His off-grid cuff and surveillance access will indeed be wanted. We would also like to ask if the cuff at very least could be used by others as well as himself, to allow leading types not involved in fighting, for example, to guide others during the mission.

During the break-in your character ends up caught and apprehended, taken with the rest of the criminals to a prison facility different from the one used after Penny’s assassination. They will be blindfolded and transported in dark vehicles, unable to see where they are until after their arrival. Like last time, they will be kept in separate cells. The fight is hard, but your character makes it out relatively unscathed. Congratulations on your success! It seems the odds were truly in your favor.

What will your character be doing?: Healer/Fighter. She will definitely want to be on the front line, and has the requisite skills for both. Basically, whichever is more needed, she'll do.
Will your character be part of the break-in portion?: Yes
If yes, what punishments are you willing to play out if caught?: Imprisonment, re-education, potentially brainwashing.
What punishments are you not willing to play?: Avoxing or execution. I'd be willing to play punishment of loved ones, but I'm not sure she really has any here?

Character Name: Merlyn
Player Name: Jormy
What will your character be doing?: Collector/Healer, if he knows those things are an option. I can also see him being a passive distraction, whether or not he knows the plan, because nothing says "distraction" like an angry old man haranguing an entire party of Capitolites about the importance of Epicurean philosophy to a civilised society.

What will your character be doing?: Passive Distraction/Fighter
If he got word that fighters were needed to infiltrate a Capitol facility and do things, he'd want in on it. It's the sort of thing he does, powers or no. Though since it hinges on him being made aware that it's an option/brought in to the rebellion's plans, if he can't get himself connected in time he'll end up being a passive distraction by showing up at Sergius's soccer demonstration and showing off as hard as he can.
Will your character be part of the break-in portion?: Yes, if ICly permitting

Character Name: Felicity Yoshida

What will your character be doing?: Collector/Passive Distractions
Seeing as most of her life is off-site from the tribute tower, if word were gotten to her to bring materials to drop spots, she'd be willing to do so and probably able to deliver a load or two without much suspicion. As for the passive distracting, she'll be helping her Uncle Torin throw a nice party in support of drumming up more sponsors for District 2.

You have signed Haruto up to be both a fighter and a passive distraction. Unfortunately he can only be one of these things during this plot. For ease of mod planning, can you tell us which would be preferred? (As a note, Sergius’s soccer game may still be handwaved if so wished. If you feel he might not catch wind of rebellion to be a fighter, this can be worked out also.)

During the break-in your character receives a fairly substantial injury that will affect them until their next in-arena death. Unfortunately for them, their bad luck doesn’t stop there.

There they will be held for three days, then moved on to face their punishment. Some peacekeepers are none to happy knowing what’s in store for your character. They seem to think that, for traitors, they are very lucky…

[You will receive a PM shortly detailing the terms of their “punishment”.]
