Thicker Than Blood Plotting Post

Hi guys, it's Lisa. I'm intending to kick off the Thicker Than Blood plot next Monday, just to make sure everyone gets a chance to thread through the Crowning, mini-Arena and rescue plot.

The basics of the plot is that the Capitol is bringing in loved ones and important people to the Tributes as a sort of 'family reunion' television special. Naturally, while it makes for good TV, it's also a not-so-thinly-veiled threat about what could happen to your homeworld should you decide to act up. Some things to know!

- Visitors will not be told that you're competing in death matches. They will instead be told that this is an elaborate dream, and not to worry. Whether they believe that is up to you. Rather than there being a large party, there will be a mod post where the visitors are brought to the relevant District Suites. If your character has a visitor, they will be forced to attend this reunion with their visitor at the very least.

- Once the plot has started, you're encouraged to start your own plots and do open and closed posts. If you want to do a somewhat larger plot, please contact the mods and we'll help you set it up and set up a plotting post in here for it.

- Threads with NPCs will not count towards Activity Check unless there is at least one other PC. You cannot get the new CR bonus for threading with an NPC.

- There will be a mini-Arena with foam weapons.

- Peacekeepers will not be especially effective at protecting visitors or Tributes right now, because they'll be overworked and stretched thin. If you want to get away with low-priority illegal stuff, or possibly kill one of the new houseguests, talk to one of the mods and we can try to accommodate that.

If you are NPCing, please comment here with what character you're NPCing, who you're NPCing them for, and if you are going to create a journal for the character, the journal name. I will also be creating a public NPC journal for players who don't want to create a whole new one.

If someone from outside the game is NPCing, we will set up a sign-up post for them within the next few days. We reserve the right to decline to allow someone from outside the game to participate, such as if they are a previously-banned player.

Wanted: A gaggle of older sisters for Courfeyrac!

I think Lisa, Yami, and possibly Amry (?) volunteered before, but I want to double check things and get some plotting figured out. Also, if anyone else wants to join the sister herd, he's got like 8 of them and I am always down for more of them arriving!

As for things I am interested in, he's dead at his canon point, so it would be interesting to me to have his sisters come in after his death also, for added angst and all.

For Hans: thirteen older brothers!! I have absolutely no headcanon for any of them so idrc how they're interpreted. It would be funny if they cold shouldered Hans the entire time because he will sulk.

Longshot but Nasir has an unnamed brother mentioned in Spartacus that I’d love to have show if anyone wants to NPC him. Basically, all we know about him is that he exists so it’s a blank check to write whatever kind of character you want but I do have some basic information/headcanon:

Nasir and his family are Syrians. I think that his family got into trouble while trying to leave the Seleucid empire (which was starting to fall apart, it went down several years later), and Nasir and his brother (and possibly parents as well, I’m leaving their fate unknown) were sold into slavery. Nasir was young when this happened (headcanon is like 4-5 years old) and I imagine this brother as being older and protective, so he would be at least a few years older (which would make him in his mid 20s). Also, he was sold into slavery along with his brother but they went to separate households.

I have no idea what happened since other than he would have heard that Spartacus was leading a rebellion of slaves but he wouldn't know his brother was among them. I doubt anyone wants to touch the potential for sexual abuse so we can say he managed to escape that. Other than that, if you’ve ever wanted to RP stuff dealing with Syria (which at the time was still heavily under Greek influence thanks to Alexander the Great conquering the hell out of the ancient world), Ancient Rome, and slavery, this is your time! I can help out if you need to research but the speech patterns are kind of odd so I can select some quotes from the show and let you know certain quirks (no one ever says the word “thanks” or “sorry” for instance).

When it comes to names I can pick one or you can pick out an Arabic name you like (the name Nasir is Arabic so I figure his brother’s would be as well).

For Homura, a Madoka would be the best/worst thing. Ever. Ever ever. Which means I must address her regardless. I know that World has offered to play her, but I wanted to touch base to make sure this was still good. Otherwise, having one of Homura's other magical girl friends (Mami, Kyoko or Sayaka) would still be pretty awkward as well.

For Don, any member of his family (his brothers, April, Casey, and/or Master Splinter) would be loved! Or a Shredder, if someone was feeling particularly amused about the idea.

Ideas include but are not limited to Joker, Poison Ivy, Catwoman, Holly Robinson, Harley's incredibly disappointed Jewish mother, her adorable Niece and Nephew, Riddler, and pretty much anyone Harley's on friendly terms with. Even Bruce Wayne. Or if you like Batman Beyond how about her twin Granddaughters from the future? Or Jokerized Tim Drake?

Bonus points if we get multiple offers from different universes. That might be funny.

Wanted: Any one of a gaggle of wild west badasses.

Specifically, I would love-

Bat Masterson: another famous (at least so far as U.S. history) lawman and one of Wyatt's besties. In terms of the canon, Bat was one of the last people he saw before he was snatched up.

Doc Holliday: Not a lawman, but definitely another famous figure. He was the bad boy, if you will, of Wyatt's friends and probably the closest of them as they got older. In Wyatt Earp's Revenge, the two of them had just met.

One of Wyatt's Brothers: There's a whole slew of Earp boys, but the two most recognizable - thanks to a variety of films including Tombstone - are Virgil and Morgan. Neither of them were in WER, but we could headcanon things or even have the boys turn up from later. A Tombstone-era Virgil or Morg would be amazing.

For Bert: Alain or Robert (his father) would be awesome. Alain is a bit more work, but his father has like maybe 5 total lines, so it's not much to look through.

For Finnick: Annie or mags. Anyone who wants to play them, I could not thank you enough. Basically the only people he's super attached to and will put him utterly on edge to have around.

Zoolander: if anyone wants to be Hansel I will not stop you, but otherwise, I'll probably leave him be for now. He's too out of it to be deeply affected by the Capitol bringing his family in anyway.

Wanted: GRUES!!! Some has 8 siblings, 8 sibling-in-laws, 11 niblings and cousins, 5 parents, and a handful more relatives all of whom he lived with and expected to live with the rest of their lives. He also has three surviving ex-fiances. Particularly wanted: His story-teller/priest mother (who will be very, very upset about all these humans), his parent Some ovMennet, who was master to Some's apprentice, or his next-younger ur-brother, Keanic, who he was very close to.

Some is dead in his canon point, but doesn't know it. Whoever is brought will be the one who has to break it to him.

I'm looking mainly for Golbez for Kain! I really like this idea of his "loved one" being someone he has mixed feelings about- especially if you include both regular and Dissidia canon. (But hey if anyone knows Kain best, it's someone who once controlled him).

I'm good with Cecil, Rosa... or anyone else really, for other options! Dissidia Duodecim opens those options up beyond FFIV, too, so people like Warrior of Light, Lightning, and others could also count.

Longshot, but if anybody would be interested in NPCing someone for Wesker that would totes be cool. :3 (And just think, as he's the villain nearly everyone that could be brought in would just annoy and torment him! Here's your chance!)

He has no true family that we know of in the canon, but Alice is certainly important enough to him for the Capitol to drag her in. Who can say no to that?

Other possibilities include Jill Valentine, Chris or Claire Redfield, or Ada Wong.

Wanted for Pruna: Someone to play Pruna's twin sister. She has no name just like Pruna had no name before arriving. She is very similar to Pruna except that she is starting to be "corrupted" by the light. Having doubts about murder and serving the dark God. She's not quite blank slate but there will be lots of room to make stuff up and I am happy to babble at anyone about the world and her character.

Wanted for Ian: Pana is bringing Mickey I think? But I would love for as many Gallaghers as possible and a Mandy.

Sooo. Brainy's "loved one" will be his mother, Brainiac 4, a lovely lady that abandoned him at birth. She is not a nice lady, she's smarter than Brainy is (or at least more creatively evil and conniving with her supergenius intelligence), and she enjoys such hobbies as manipulating whole world governments, mass murder, and burning her own offspring to death. She's close to original Brainiac levels of bad.

So her response to being brought to Panem will be to try to kill everyone.. As many people as she can in as grand a scale as possible. And she'll want to kill Brainy first, personally, right before she does it. The thing with how she plans is she's very secretive up until that big kaboom moment so her attempting to kill Brainy will actually give them a chance to stop her.

Preemptively, I do need to say this is tentative. I've been told I can attempt something that would have potentially big consequences as long as they thwart it before it does and as long as its limited in scope to just a few characters and doesn't wind up gamewide, but I still will have to put the final plot through all the mods as a whole and work with them to see what can get approved.

But anyway, the idea I'm starting with is that Brainiac 4 finds a way to possibly trigger the pods under the Capitol to go off, which would kill tons of people if she got away with it, and she plans to make it look like the rebels triggered it so they go at each other in open war. She may or may not know about District 13 depending on whether or not the mods say she'd be able to find out about them (and their nukes) but minimally she'd be trying to explode the powder keg that is the Capitol and the Districts and then she plans to just waltz in and steal some tech during the chaos to go to a different dimension.

Her fatal flaw will be the fact that she's gunning for the Worst Mom In Existence Award and won't be able to resist a good gloat and murder of her son, Brainiac 5, before she does it, giving them a chance to stop her. While I'd like to have a moment of Brainy and Lyle doing some cool stuff (I'm thinking Brainy will have some torturey device slapped on him that he has to power through to kick whatever other device she's using to restrain everyone else), when it comes to stopping her, hacking/wrecking her machine, punching her in the face, and so on, I'd like to have it be a team thing where a small group of people does it, thus preventing catastrophe. Preferably they'd happen to be the only ones around so it's quick, they stop it, she dies, the secrets of how she pulled it all off die with her, and it doesn't go beyond that small group in scope.

But to figure out how it might be structured and all I need to know who wants in and what they want to do. Brainy and Lyle are a given but I'd like 5-6 other people. I'll roll RNG if I get more volunteers than that. It'd be small and intense but very contained - it'd only explode if she wins and they'll get to stop her before that. Once I have a solid idea of who wants in and what I can have them doing to beat her, I'll put it by the mods for a final yes or no.

Anyone interested in stopping a supervillain's scheme?

This is more like a PSA just so people are aware and can steer clear if they want.

Jet's 'loved ones' will be his mother and father and his father's an abusive drunk, so that'll be something that'll be going on; there'll definitely be a couple occasions of Jet's dad being verbally and physically abusive played out, but the same as well as spousal abuse might be referenced in other cases as well as general neglect on Jet's mother's side.

All of this will be clearly marked/warned for, but I thought it better safe than sorry that there be a warning before hand so anyone who doesn't want any part of that won't stumble upon it.
