Arena Update.

The Peasants are Revolting
There's a stink in the air. It's pervasive, ignoring any barriers of stone, glass or cloth. No matter where you go you won't be able to escape it. It's the reek of rotting corpses, unwashed bodies and manure. Tribute's are going to be stuck with this stench the whole week through and there's no chance of them getting used to it. At its worst it may cause a Tribute to vomit or even faint, possibly at an inopportune time.

Like when they're next to a well for example. Certainly the smell seems more concentrated at those where there is no water inside.

Will You Accept This Rose...?
In the depths of the forest a rose bush has bloomed. There is a white rose for each Tribute, a neat little indicating tag on each one. Tributes who pick their own will have something nice to cover the smell of rot and decay. Tributes who picks the rose of another will find the thorns drawing blood, that blood summoning the wrath of the fey.

The notes have further little instructions telling Tributes to dip the rose in the bay waters at midnight. The moment a Tribute fails to follow instruction, they will fall into a terrible fever from midnight to dawn.

Running Wild
Come Friday this week, Tributes will hear a sudden rushing sound of galloping hooves. Coming out from the forest and moving out over the arena, a drove of wild horses will be making their way. If one is willing to risk being trampled, they can seek to capture one of the stallions to use and ride. These horses will be around well into week two.

Good Little Children
Children who did well (were pro-capitol) and participated in the Tribute Youth Programme will receive a gift. They will be gifted with a simple smiling stuffed cloth doll, dressed in white and marked with the Capitol insignia. Those who keep it will find the rats and other night creatures more likely to leave them alone for a week, at least until the doll falls apart.

Those who did poorly in class, were reckless and anti-capitol, will find the opposite with creatures seeking them out. These dolls will have sad faces and a note saying they can turn things around if they improve themselves first-- meaning they need only to give a speech to the Capitol, to snow, their District, their fans, anyone in thank of the gift, so long as it's pro-captiol.

Be Our Guest!
Marking the Wednesday comes a glorious feast held in the great banquet hall of the castle, food and drink beyond wildest arena fascinations. The banquet lasts until sundown when the drawbridge is pulled up, at which pointed the food is carted off. How you ask? The same way it got there in the first place! The servants! Several Avoxes dressed in grey ragged garb have been brought into the arena just for the purpose of serving your meals. They will pass the food to your seat, pour your drinks, and provide for you just as Medieval serfs would provide for their lords and ladies. Time to live the high life your Highnesses, for it will only last so long. After Wednesday, there will not be another banquet until the next week.

Arena Plotting

Roland Deschain

I really want Roland to do something but can't make plans of my own, so if there's anything anyone wants to do with their own character, contact me and I will very probably be up for it!

The only things Roland will be doing will be a) putting herbs in a torn up old shirt to tie around his face, and b) giving the roses the most dramatically 'oh hell no' look you can imagine, followed by staying the hell away from them. So he'll be around anywhere.

Zed is slated for a little bit of havoc around the time of the banquet, but he's also probably going to get sick because of the roses and get all whiny about it. Since he's got his darkness powers back and what he actually is should be becoming more apparent, I'd love to toss him at Roland at some point.

I am totally up for it! What were you thinking, Zed kind of going after Roland or just a general meet up/exasperated help for a sick Zed sort of thing? Or both?

Either/or/both works! They could just run into each other again, and we could see what results! Really, I am completely up for Zed being eternally exasperating in the Arenas, so if you want to have Roland stumble upon his sick self, I'm game for that.

Feferi Peixes

Feferi has a sword that she got in the Cornucopia, and she's willing to use it... probably more in self-defense at this point, but still!

She's also up for helping any other students who didn't do so well in making a speech. Pep talk, ideas, brainstorming. She's no public speaking prodigy, but she makes up for it in enthusiasm.

She might also sneak into the banquet, if it seems safe enough, or seems like she can stash her plate and make a run for it.

Kurt Wagner

Kurt is not doing great. He narrowly missed being crushed by a roof and he's had trouble gathering food. He's likely going to end up at the banquet this week, but I can have him anywhere around the Arena for CR purposes! Hit me up~

So I'm a little behind in my arena work but I think that Kurt and Ruffnut might pal around when she's not being overwhelmed by fever.

I think this...mostly because you're playing my favorite version of nightcrawler so at some point during this arena I'd like to throw them at one another.

I am so down! I've always wanted CR with Ruffnut though Albert was definitely not the one to get it with him being an ol' fuddy duddy and all.

Jet and Pietro

Jet will be getting swallowed by tree roots at some point -as continued punishment for Fucking Up in the capitol- this week and he'll need help escaping, if anyone would be interested in that! (Think Two Towers and Merry and Pippin)

Beyond that, I'm open to anything! I know I want Jet to do stuff with the banquet and the horses when those things happen and Pietro's likely going to get his rose at least. Pietro's also having some problems not using his powers because he's a powers junkie, so if anyone would like arena effects happening around them/to them, they just need to get too close to Pietro.

Samwise Gamgee

Sam's surviving! I'm considering having him take his own rose, so would be down to play out things related to that - I'd also be more than happy to have him show up at the banquet. Though if you've got ideas for involvement in any of the other events - Sam's not bloodthirsty, and if he's not attacked first he's willing to team up with people. He's good on his own in the wilderness, too, so if your character's seeking help, he might be a good option!

Otherwise: If you'd like your character killed and they'd be the type to attack Sam or someone he feels responsible for, he's up to kill people under the right circumstances!

Miss Gritta

Gritta was rolled for death this week, and I'm gonna go with it. She's going to die, though I haven't settled on exactly how it might happen. If anyone wants to get a kill in, the option is there! She's weaker during the day than she is at night and could possibly be picked off that way?

I'd also like to swing her by the banquet for the sake of being a little social before the dying happens, though. If anyone wants friendly/curious/wtf CR, that might be a good time for it!

I am intrigued by this Miss Gritta, what sort of threat does she pose to a small child with a cross bow and the ability to turn into stone?

Not terribly much of one, as she's not a very aggressive Shadow Monster... but she's alarming-looking enough that perhaps if she catches Sandy unawares with a loaded crossbow at the ready, stuff might happen? Gritta is pretty durable, but weaker during the daytime or while exposed to bright light, and one properly aimed (or accidentally aimed) bolt might do her in, if you want to have a death on Sandy's hands.

Mind you, if Zed finds out that Sandy did her in, he is going to be very unhappy with Sandy. Soooo I guess this is about how horrible do you want this chain of events to be?

Haruto Soma

Haruto is still recovering from his lightning strike at the Cornucopia. He has a limp and probably a mild fever, and I'm thinking that upgrading that mild fever to a raging one by him messing up with his white rose could be interesting if anyone wants to take the chance to steal his stuff or try to kick him while he's down early on in the week.

Later, having gotten a first aid kit and a bit of time to heal, he'll be in somewhat better shape and his generally helpful self. It's a good time to explore so that's what he'll be doing. He'll probably scout the banquet but not linger long, and may get distracted by ghosts on the way out.

Altair & Psii

Altair is going to try making friends with a horse over the next several days. Would anyone like to be caught with him in a stampeding mishap, or later, possible horseback riding? If anyone wants something different, i could also include a general scouting prompt that could take place during the previous week as well as this one.

Sam Wilson will be Psii's seeing-eye-human at the banquet, where they will encounter avox!Initiate and freak out. Feel free to handwave that your character saw him with his weird blind eyes there.

I'm down for tossing Jane in for horse shenanigans with Altair if you are! A stampeding mishap works best, since Jane is only looking at the horses as a possible food source, sobs.

He will be miffed at that, but he still will prioritize getting her and himself to safety lmao. Probably in the trees or on a rooftop. Then he can wonder if she'll stab him in the back when he's not looking. Fun times! Does this second starter work or should i add anything?

Commander Jane Shepard | D5

Shepard has been hanging out with the DA crew for the first week, but at some point she has/will break off to deliberately search for her friends and allies, so if you think you might be among that number-- or, if you want to be-- then please please say so and let's hook up for a random or deliberate encounter!

At some point she'll meet up with a fatally injured Garrus, although that's going to be handwaved, and basically she'll be soldiering on as Shepard don't do sad, sad is for human beings made of flesh and blood, and we have no truck with that nonsense here. No flaws of mortal flesh in this place, nosir.

It is worth noting that she is afraid of horses and will treat them with the respect enormous unpredictable animals with deadly hard/pointy bits on the end of their freaky legfeet deserve.

Sandy meanwhile is enchanted by large dangerous muscular stompy things that can run really fast and will try and befriend one...or get kicked across the field activating her powers to protect herself from a broken ribcage and triggering the magic backlash.

Phil Gray and James Sunderland

So these two survive this week thanks to Firo-mun so, let's get these two going!

PG's hesitating on heading into the castle because while James has no survival instinct and heads in because oh hello place with a roof.

PG is building a stash of supplies somewhere for Firo, keeping the promises he's made Linden, since that noble angle? Not an act, sadly enough phone idiot. and getting spooked because holy shit, Venus just...wow...this arena puts a lot of things in perspective about the other Tributes. He'll be looking for Clementine and Sandy, but everything that happens between then and now is so open for everything!

Sunderland will grab his rose as he doesn't know anyone here. and if it wasn't already obvious, the smells and the whole atmosphere is bringing so many memories of Silent Hill, and he's been looking for Mary and known faces this time around. He'll sneak into the feast but eh, his luck's not the best.

I'm open for anything!

Ruffnut Thorston

So, I imagine this week Ruffnut would fail to follow the instructions of the roses because...seriously she can't be taking orders from a flower. It's humiliating.

This will result in her being crippled by fever. Anyone wanna do something with that? Maybe try to attack her when she's weak? Maybe take care of her while she's sick and miserable?

Sandy Marko

Sandy will be enchanted by these wild horses and will probably risk getting close enough to them to try and pet them and maybe get a ride. This could end very badly for her...or it could be awesome. Anyone interested in joining her?

Other then that she has a crossbow and she's not afraid to use it. Worse comes to worse she can use her stone powers and get a taste of that magical backlash that seems to be pestering powered tributes this arena.
