Intro!

 Hello! I'm new here (and new to DWRP in general), and you can call me Ritzy. I'm bringing in Sayaka from Puella Magi Madoka Magica. 

Sayaka is a magical girl burdened with the task of fighting the forces of evil™, which was all going swimmingly until she discovered that her flashy new powers came at a price - now her body is technically a shell, and her soul is contained in a tiny glass egg that she has to keep with her at all times or she stops being able to control her body. She's not taking this news too well, so while normally she's like this:

So... I guess we'll see how it goes. Sayaka's probably going to be a bit frosty until she works out what she's doing here in Panem, but don't be put off! Beneath that cold, 'by the way I'm basically a zombie' mentality, there's a loyal and brave friend just waiting to be made!

And wait, is that Sound and the Fury as in the book by William Faulkner? If so, that's a weird coincidence because I literally just bought it for my reading list next year.

It is indeed! (Sanctuary and Unvanquished are also Faulkner, I have a problem). Oh man if you want to talk about it as you read it - or need help getting through it because it's a modernist funhouse of disorientation and hiding-the-ball from the reader and really, who needs grammar or chronology anyway, haha - let me know!

I had heard it was heavy going! Apparently it's a bit like Septimus' sections in Mrs Dalloway, and I really enjoyed reading/deciphering that! Haha, yep - gotta love the postmodern approach to grammar. I'll be sure to hit you up once I've finished reading it!

It's (probably obviously from my choice of character) an absolute masterpiece IMO - stylistically inventive, full of beautiful turns of phrase and incredibly detailed and complex characters, structurally genius. Also Jason's chapter is basically a Wile E. Coyote slapstick routine and once you realize that the whole book becomes hilarious.

Anyway yes, I hope you enjoy it. :)

Aw yay another magical girl! Welcome!

I'm Al! I play Sandy Marko D12, Ruffnut Thorston D7 and formerly of D9 but now of D13 Harley Quinn.

It's too bad Harley missed Sayaka, but Sandy and Homura were friends once upon a time as was Harley so if they ever find out they're connected we can play off that. Like maybe Sayaka sees Homura in the reruns of older games or something, either way Sandy or Ruffnut is bound to run into her at some point.

I'm curious, does she have the soul egg with her in Panem since her powers are shut off till the Capitol allows it? How's that whole thing work?

Oh man, it is a shame Sayaka missed Harley, but I'm sure they'll end up meeting somehow. I like the idea of her chasing up info about Homura and ending up with Sandy, although that might take a little while to get going.

She does have it with her! She'll be bringing it into the arena as her token, and I seriously have my fingers crossed that someone will run off with it at some point. Basically she's been nerfed to the point that she only has the stuff that will keep her alive and is part of her new-and-unimproved magical girl form: so her weird resilience and (some) of her strength. To balance that out, her soul is still stuck in the gem, so if it gets lost or destroyed she's pretty much dead. I think.

Excellent~ The big moment of friendship for them was in the 9th arena. A museum style arena where a film was being shown of Homura's exploits, sharing her secrets with the world much to her frustration. She chatted up Sandy and even gave Sandy a bunch of bombs which Sandy eventually used to blow herself up rather then get killed by another kid.

As for Harley, she took a liking to Homura's attitude and one day when a pink fluffy "Mado-kitty" was stolen from Homura and Homura broke down, Harley tracked down the culprit and publicly humiliated her till she got the cat back. Homura was...less then pleased.

Poor Sayaka! Gotta keep that gem somewhere secure, zippered pockets or something!

Oh wow - yeah, Sayaka will definitely have to look that up at some point. It might even help her get out of her funk post-arena, knowing that she at least has a point of reference with someone in this bizarre new world.

And aww, Harley! I think my favourite thing about her is her soft side.

Haha, yeah. Hopefully pockets are a thing!

And aaaah, Arya! I'm gonna admit I've only seen the show, but I'm borrowing a song of ice and fire from a friend and I am SO EXCITED to read it.

I hope we get great CR too! I can see Sayaka and Arya either getting along like a house on fire or doing the exact opposite of that, but either way, I can't wait until they run into each other.

He was good friends with Homura when she was around (and I played Madoka briefly for an NPC event), so I think having him and Sayaka meet somehow, someday would be tons of fun. Even if their CR ends up being, understandably, negative ;D

Awesome! :D Thanks, right now he's working as a rebel spy by helping the Capitol and actually saving lives while doing awful things and making as many people hate him as possible. You know, same old shit, different day.

That would be really great! He, uh, knows what happens to magical girls when their soul gems run outta juice. Of course, I wouldn't reveal that to Sayaka unless you wanted me to. Either way, interesting conversation ;) He's very fond of Homura, so he'll definitely be getting a different opinion, here, heh.

Sayaka does have her soul gem with her in the arena, so that would be a big eye-opener for her in case she ever gets too comfortable ;) If she knew Homura had been here before and hadn't warned her about the dangers of cross-dimensional kidnapping, she'd be so angry, so that would be great!
