HI DISTRICT FOUR

This is Bri here, Sam Wilson's player, adding to the train of new characters by bringing in this Panem AU! This is Derek Souza from Kelley Armstrong's Darkest Powers trilogy. In canon he was an angry teenage werewolf who was the result of a genetic experimentation project that messed around with supernatural babies.

But here, he is a mentor for District Four! He won his games when he was 15, and is known for brutually hunting down and slaughtering his fellow Tributes in an animalistic fashion, resulting in his nickname of the Wolf. His vocal chords were also damaged during his games (which took place in a mad scientist lab), so he doesn't talk much, and tends to respond with grunts or growls.

He mentored for a year or two after his games and then retreated back to District 4 once the new Tributes came, because screw those off worlder guys. But now he's back, and he totally wants to be here! He doesn't want to be here. At all.

His bff/handler/wolf tamer is Chuck Hansen, and they'll probably be tag-teaming Four's tributes with their asshole mentor methods very soon.

If anyone wants previous CR with Capitolite characters, I'd love to work things out! I'm looking forward to throwing him at all of you. (His app is here if anyone's interested, and my plurk is [plurk.com profile] brbsoulnomming!)

I want Mentor CR! Is it OK if Linden at least knows of Derek, safe to say they've maybe spoken a couple times and are familiar with each other's reputations?

I think that Linden and Chuck (who both hold grudges) will have pretty negative CR, so we could either go the expected route (Derek sticks with his buddy Chuck on that asshole Linden) or the unexpected one (Derek and Linden, despite the fact that Linden and Chuck don't really get along, recognize that kindred spark and are therefore less negative toward each other.) Personally I like the second one, even if it's only to the extent that there's a mutual respect and understanding under the tolerance. Because if Derek's a big dumb animal one step away from being rabid in the public eye, Linden is a shrimpy, washed-up addict one step away from a fatal overdose. Those things aren't so different from his point of view, and he can empathize with other Victors who are expected to fail.

Ohhh yes I like the second one! As long as Linden doesn't pose an actual threat to Chuck, Derek will tolerate him. Especially if they both have the whole Capitol expects one thing but really we're pretty damn smart in common.

Maybe there's been times where they have the same reading/hiding spot or something?

Linden doesn't... pose an actual threat to anyone, really. He can behave unpredictably if he's grabbed suddenly but he's so wasted and weak after years of morphling abuse and self-neglect that even an earnest attack wouldn't be very effective. And he's definitely not motivated to attempt to poison him or arrange for him to get hurt otherwise; most of the time, Linden is decently professional and recognizes the importance of maintaining amicable fronts with the other staff members when it's showtime.

Linden likes the roof an awful lot and can be found haunting it with his books and his thoughts. If Derek's ever been up there around sunset or sunrise, he's probably run into Linden a few times. (He also has a worrisome habit of liking to hang of the side from the guardrails.)

I would love some pre-existing Mentor CR! Temple probably tried to seduce Derek at some point, if you're okay with that...
