Important Announcement: Activity Changes!

Hello everyone! We’ve made some major changes to the activity and credits system that all players must read and understand. We ask that all members comment to this post verifying that they have read and understand the new expectations.

• Activity Requirement Increase

After much discussion and evaluation of activity levels of our entire playerbase over the last few activity cycles, we’ve decided to increase our activity requirement from 100 credits to 200 credits, effective next activity cycle. Beginning next cycle, all characters residing in the Capitol will be expected to make 200 credits per cycle in order to pass activity. This increase should be attainable for all of our players, as the vast majority of characters were at or close to that level over the last few cycles anyway. These changes go into effect for Cycle 14.

This change does not apply to characters in District 13. Characters in District 13 will be required to make 100 credits per cycle.

• New Credits System

Beginning with our next activity cycle, we will be using an altered credits system for earning credits. Some of the bonuses are remaining the same, however there are some very important changes that will effect the amount of credits you’ll earn. We ask that each of our players read through this section carefully, and please ask us if you have any questions.

MAKING A NEW POST || +15 Credits || A post made by you in [community profile] thegames, [community profile] thearena, [community profile] thecapitol, or [community profile] thelostdistrict that other characters may reply to.
MAKING AN OPEN DISTRICT POST || +25 Credits || A post made by you in [community profile] thegames or [community profile] thecapitol that other characters may reply to. This bonus may only be used by escorts, mentors, stylists, or other Tribute Center staffers. If your character is eligible to use this bonus, they cannot claim the +15 new post bonus and this bonus. It's one or the other.
NEW CR || +25 Credits || Tagging ANY character that you have never tagged before. Have you threaded with this character in-game before? No?! Then you get 25 credits your first time.
REPLYING TO A POST || +5 Credits || Replying to any in-game post; for example mod post, event post, party post, opening arena post, network post, etc.
REPLYING TO A THREAD || +10 Credits || Replying to any top-level comment thread posted by another character in a group log.
10+ COMMENT STRING || +5 Credits || A thread consisting of 10 or more comments between two characters - approximately 5 each.
20+ COMMENT STRING || +5 Credits || A thread consisting of 20 or more comments between two characters - approximately 10 each.
40+ COMMENT STRING || +5 Credits || A thread consisting of 40 or more comments between two characters - approximately 20 each.
60+ COMMENT STRING || +10 Credits || A thread consisting of 60 or more comments between two characters - approximately 30 each.
80+ COMMENT STRING || +10 Credits || A thread consisting of 80 or more comments between two characters - approximately 40 each.
100+ COMMENT STRING || +10 Credits || A thread consisting of 100 or more comments between two characters - approximately 50 each.
FINISHED THREAD || +15 Credits || A thread that comes to a close, ICly. Both/all parties receive the points.
CUMULATIVE COMMENTS ON A POST || +5 Credits for every 20 comments up to 200 || This does not require threads to be finished, or to involve the post maker entirely. It is to reward people who make a post that creates activity. Only the post maker gets these points and it can be for an open or closed post or log. However, we do reserve the right to reject these point if the player is inactive or barely active within their own post.

As you may note, the changes to the credits system reward longer threads and finished threads and are meant to encourage further backtagging, increasing the finished thread bonus from 5 credits to 15 credits, and adding incremental bonuses for threads which go longer than 60 comments. These changes go into effect for Cycle 14.

• New CR Bonuses

Effective immediately, all characters coming into District 13 may collect a New CR bonus worth 25 credits when they tag someone who is already in District 13, even if they have prior CR with that character. This applies to characters who may have already collected the new CR bonus in the Capitol, but have yet to tag each other in D13. This change is not retroactive, however you may use it when tagging into a new thread. For example, Panem!Bucky could claim this bonus when tagging into a new post by Wyatt, even though the two already have CR. Bucky could not claim this bonus for a finished thread with Wyatt from October, however, and this bonus may be claimed only once. This change is due to the slower pacing in District 13 as well as the infrequency of new characters coming in, thus an inability to routinely gain the valuable 25 credit new CR bonus.

We’re also clarifying the rules regarding new CR bonuses and how those apply to characters who dropped then re-apped. If you drop a character and re-app them less than three months later, you do not get to claim new CR bonuses when tagging with someone you previously had CR with. If you re-app them more than 3 months later, new CR bonuses are once again in play. This applies to both the character who dropped and to the character(s) tagging with them. For example, Max Guevara recently rejoined us after six months out of the game. When she tags with Joly, both she and Joly are eligible to collect the new CR bonus again. However, if Max had dropped only one month ago and then rejoined, neither could claim the new CR bonus. If a character is dropped, then is apped by a different player, the new CR bonuses are fair game. These changes go into effect immediately.

• Reminder: Changes for Capitol Citizens

We would also like to remind those players who play escorts, mentors, stylists, or other members of the Tribute Center staff of the new expectation going into effect next cycle. Beginning next activity cycle, all staff characters are expected to make at least one open post per cycle. These district open posts will be worth 25 points each, however this change in scoring this only applies to Capitol Characters. At least one open post is mandatory per activity cycle. These can be network posts or in the form of logs.

Additionally, staff characters may use personal contact posts for activity beginning next cycle. The threads on those posts can be counted towards AC for both Staff and Tributes, but only threads on Staff Contact posts will apply (i.e., Tributes may not use their own contact posts for activity.) The reasoning behind this that staff do not participate in Arenas and are shut out from activity opportunities there. These changes go into effect for Cycle 14.

• Additional Characters

We have made a slight amendment to the rules regarding applying for additional characters. Presently any player may play up to 4 characters in game without needing to prove that they’ve passed activity. Effective immediately, any player wishing to apply for a fourth character must prove that they’ve made at least 150 credits with each of their present characters. This shows that they are already active in the game and are at least on track toward passing activity with their present characters before bringing in another. These changes go into effect immediately.

• Self Buy-Outs

Beginning next arena (Arena 14) players will only be allowed to buy out their own characters twice per Arena. These changes go into effect for Cycle 14.

• Mid-Cycle Check-Ins

And lastly, for upcoming mid-cycle activity checks (such as the one that is presently ongoing) we will be asking all players provide a link to show us one thread that they've been tagging during the cycle. It can be brand new activity, or it could be a thread from the last arena you’ve been plucking away at, anything so long as it demonstrates that you are actively participating in the game. The only stipulation is that the thread have at least 3 comments from your character during the current cycle. You’ll need to provide one recent thread per character per mid-cycle check in, but you won’t need to worry about estimating credit counts or tallying anything up for those check-ins. A simple link will do. These changes go into effect immediately.

So, to summarize:
Characters residing in the Capitol: 200 credits per cycle
Characters residing in District 13: 100 credits per cycle; incoming D13 characters can collect a new CR bonus (25 points) even if they’ve previously tagged someone in the Capitol.
Re-Apped Characters: New CR bonus is valid if the character was dropped for 3 or more months.
Escorts, Mentors, Stylists, & Staff Members: Must make at least ONE open post per cycle, which is now worth 25 credits. They may also use contact post threads for activity.
All characters: Must provide a link to a thread they’ve participated in during the current arena cycle at mid-cycle check-ins. The linked thread must show at least 3 comments from your character, and those comments must be from the current Activity Cycle.
Any player applying for a 4th character: must provide proof of having made at least 150 credits with each of their existing characters.

Because of the importance of these changes, we are requiring all players to read and comment to this post by 20 March, 2015.
