Arena Update.

Let's Sing A Gay Little Spring Song
The temperature in the Arena will begin to rapidly climb beginning on Friday morning and continuing through the weekend. In fact, it seems that winter may be very nearly over, the way the snow begins to melt and the darling buds of May have come a few months early. Nothing is in full bloom just yet, but the forest and meadows are stirring to life once again. The animals are more plentiful, there are fresh patches of berries to be found, and birds besides the jabberjays are singing in the trees. Yes, a change sure is in the air, but how long will the pleasant weather last?

Mammoth Rider
Most notably, the large meadow and the area surrounding the Cornucopia are now home to a large and ornery herd of wooly mammoths. These massive beasts are an excellent source of nutrition, and their coats can be used for clothing or shelter, but it isn't easy to kill them. They are easily frightened and will stampede at the slightest provocation. But just think how tasty they'd be, and how cute you'd look in a coat made of their wool! The Gamemakers recommend working together to take one of these bad boys down...

Poppies & Optimistic Voices
The one area of the arena where spring has definitely sprung is the field of wildflowers. The snows have melted away from the area, revealing the lush and fragrant florals once again. We'd caution you to avoid getting too close to the tempting blooms, but the Gamemakers have kindly thrown caution to the wind, as it were. Monday will find a strong wind coming from the northeast, blowing the poisonous pollens throughout the arena. There are several different side effects of the pollen:

- Nausea/vomiting
- Uncontrollable sneezing
- Unquenchable hunger and/or thirst
- Heightened aggression/berserker state
- Uncontrollable weeping
- Heightened arousal/sexual urges
- Inability to regulate body temperature
- Rashes/hives
- Temporary paralysis
- Death

The winds will blow steadily throughout the arena for several days, casting the pollen throughout the arena. All areas of the arena are at risk for exposure, with the exception of the caves. But don't think you're safe down there, folks. The warm weather is bringing with it a whole other set of risks over there.

Here Comes The Rain Again
With the warmer weather comes a heavy spring storm. Dark clouds come in on Wednesday night and bring rain with them, which finally nixes the effects of the pollen. The rains are heavy, but the temperatures are still cool in the evenings, hovering just below freezing at night. It's a situation ripe for some sort of natural disaster, or at the very least, whacky shenanigans on too thin ice. Be careful out there, folks!

Landslide
It begins up in the mountains of the west. It's a sort of cracking noise, a deep, low rumble, the sends shockwaves all the way down to the river. Little bits of rock and earth slide down the slopes, but it's nothing too bad. Nothing too scary. That's just the tip of the iceberg, as it were. Thursday afternoon is when the real trouble starts. The warm weather will cause part of the glacier to cave off and slide down the river as a massive rate of speed, bringing rocks and debris with it until it comes to a stop at the mouths of the caves, sealing them off from the rest of the arena. Anyone hiding in there will be trapped, and anyone left outside will be unable to get back in. And anyone unlucky enough to be caught in the path of the landslide? Well, let's just say that's a messy way to go.

Any and all interested sponsors, please submit your payment of 1600 Credits to our main office by no later than close of business Friday.

Any tributes without sponsors?

Sorry. We tried.

We would like to remind you however, that saving someone from the dark grip of death isn't the only thing our sponsorship program offers. We have other items available. And remember! Get these items while they're hot. You won't see prices this low for the rest of this arena!

And as an additional reminder, you may only spend credits which were earned before January 1st, 2015 (aka LAST activity cycle!) Those characters who were accepted after January 1st have 100 default credits to spend however they like!

Jet Link

Jet's all alone from here on out, 99% of his CR has died. I'm thinking about playing with the pollen effects, if anyone would like to play too, but he might also miss out because he's still in the caves and isn't heading out as much now that it's just him.

That said. Anyone want to have some woolly mammoth shenanigans? Personally, I love the idea of Jet riding a woolly mammoth, but he'd need help bringing it down. Plus, this'll be his last chance for fun until next week because he's going to be getting stuck in the caves thanks to the glacier for a few days, as long as the mods okay the plan. If not, getting stuck might or might not happen.

Pretty much from the moment that Tabris sees a mammoth she's going to want to try to fight it. She'll be more than happy to help someone else bring it down, as long as they're willing to split the take. She really wants a tusk.

He likes your train of thought, Tabris! Sure, that sounds good. A tusk and some fur and meat for both of them. If you're planning on posting something, I'll be happy to tag into it, otherwise, I don't mind making a log for them near the beginning of the week!
