It's a bird, it's a...wait, no, he's not a bird this time

Hey, there, Airdra here. I already play Kousuke Nitou, the resident mayonnaise fiend, and now I'm bringing in my second character, a Panem AU of Torin from Voltasaur Sentai Kyoryuger. In canon, he's a millions-of-years old bird-dinosaur-man who forms a brightly colored squadron of bravery-powered heroes and fights evil with robot dinosaurs. In this case, he's a human in his late forties by the name of Torin Byrd, and he won the Hunger Games for District Two thirty-something years ago, where he tamed a bunch of dinosaur mutts in his prehistoric-themed Arena and used them to take out all the other Tributes. He has been brought back to the Capitol from District Two to help with these Games because someone somewhere has a sneaking suspicion that Torin thinks rebellion is an excellent idea, and so here he is. Poor Torin is unprepared to deal with so many Tributes all at once, but he will still pretty much try to dad mentor at all of them.

As always, if anyone wants to plot anything, I'm on Plurk at Airdra. Since Torin's an AU and has been at this for thirty-something years, I'm very open for any preexisting CR with other Panem characters!

I'm Ali btw, and I also have Jessica (confidentially), a mentor from D3, and Jennifer (milieus) who is the former escort for D2! I'd love to work out some preexisting CR with them and Torin. :)

Preexisting CR would be lovely! Torin would have been relatively easy to work with for the escorts; he'd be amiable to most things and save his arguing for stuff he felt was really important...and actually doable. (Because let's face it, you can't argue with a lot of Capitol life...) And he's always pretty polite to the other mentors, because they're all stuck on the same boat together. (He offers all sorts of advice to new mentors if they seem willing, haha.)

That sounds wonderful! Jessica is on the younger end of the Panem-mentors, so she'd likely have looked up to Torin for fatherly advice. Jennifer on the other hand is known to be polite and reserved, but very efficient at getting sponsors and such. After retiring and marrying a politician, she's now serving as a liaison between the residents of the Tribute Center and the Capitol, so she's still easy to access. :)

Excellent! Torin would have happily offered the fatherly advice, and he's also polite and reserved so dealing with Jennifer likely would have been smooth for both of them.

This sounds pretty great, really. I'm pretty sure he and Torin won't get along very well at all, which is always fun! Torin was pressured into the whole Career thing by his father and kind of hates all of this and everything it stands for, plus he's always been kind of an old soul. I figure he was sixteen or seventeen when he won his Games.

Now, the important question--which of them would have been through the games and become a mentor first?

Billy was pretty young when he won his games (fourteen). Maybe Torin won the year before? :D

That sounds good! Billy would have been Torin's mentorship guinea pig in a way, what fun! :D He could be the victim of Baby's First Pep Talk! Which was probably more long-winded than it needed to be, oops.
