Assassination Plot Change/Sign-Ups/Deets
In regards to the sign-ups for the upcoming Penny assassination plot, we’ve received feedback that people would be more likely to participate if their characters were not going to be sent to District 13 at the end of the plot, and that since it conflicts with the mini-arena, several people who were interested could not participate. Because we would like for there to be wider participation, we’ve amended the plot to allow characters to either wind up in D13 or be sent to jail for a temporary period and face a physical punishment. We are moving the date of this plot to August 1st.
If you sign up for this plot, you are giving permission for your character to be jailed, tortured, and/or mutilated. The torture scenes will not be played out, they will be hand waved.
This amendment to the plot will also allow for some “red herrings”. After Penny is murdered, the Capitol is going to arrest several Tributes and hold them on suspicion of committing the murder. One or more of the characters arrested will be guilty, the rest may be guilty of other offenses or guilty of nothing at all.
If you would like to have your character arrested on suspicion of having committed the murder, please sign-up here. All comments will be screened to allow for a bit of mystery. Please also let us know here if you would like your character to actually be involved in committing the murder or if they are to be a red herring only. The mods will choose the actual murderer from the pool of signed-up characters. Depending on how many characters sign up, there may be one murderer or multiples. Not everyone who volunteers will be selected to commit the murder. The murderer(s) will be notified via PM. Those who are not chosen (and the red herrings) will also be contacted with specifics of what will be happening once the arrests are made. To clarify, even if your character isn't chosen to execute the murder, they can still participate by getting caught up in the Peacekeepers' dragnet, so there will be something for you to do even if you're not the one to kill Penny!
The investigation and jailbreak portions of the plot will go on as planned, so if you signed up for those parts last night and wish to participate still, you’re good to go. For characters participating in the jailbreak: the jailbreak will have a 50% success rate. If you volunteer for the jailbreak, your character will be rolled via RNG to either succeed and break out one jailed character, or they will fail and wind up in jail themselves. As stated earlier, if you volunteer for this plot, there will be hand waved elements of torture and bodily harm. Please be aware of this.
The investigation portion of the plot does not have the consequence of jail, torture, etc. More details on this part of the plot will be forthcoming once we have a solid idea of who will be involved.
If you already signed up for the jailbreak portion of the plot and wish to do something else, you are welcome to opt out now if you so choose.
If you sign up to be either a murderer or a red herring, there will be a (non-fatal!) consequence of your character’s actions in the next arena.
