OKAY SO i dropped the ball majorly here, but IMPORTANT PLOT THINGS with Merlyn happened at the interview, and although I failed to get them played out in time, they are still canon and of BIG IMPORTANT MUCHNESS please read k
In roughly chronological order, here's what happened:
- Tony died. Merlyn had very little outward reaction to this, but the astute observer may notice that he's spent a lot of time scribbling in note books. If challenged, he produces lesson notes, or harmless writings from his own world which he says are for his students.
- About two days before the interviews, Merlyn disappeared into his own room for an afternoon. The cameras trained on him showed no seditious activity, just an awful lot of pacing and some scattered exclamations to the birds.
- At the interviews, Merlyn was interviewed by Pablonius. (This thread is still ongoing)
- He answered a couple of questions, then asked to make a public apology for his behaviour. A couple of paragraphs into his prepared speech, the Capitol twigged, and he was dragged offstage by force, still shouting his speech.
Currently, Merlyn is officially missing. People who were present backstage at his interviews, however, may have seen him shot down. His execution was relatively private, but not entirely hidden.
But the important thing is that even killing Merlyn hasn't managed to shut him up. Over the course of the next few days, certain documents will start to appear around the Capitol. Whether they end up in the hands of Capitolites, Districters, or Offworlders is up to the players. They can be found in various high places around the city. Sometimes places where people have already checked. It's almost like
a little bird brought them.
Those documents (handwritten on various types of paper, often with different types in a single document) are as follows:
Feel free to have any of your characters find one or more of these, or to hear of them from someone else. Also, if you think of a really obvious speech or chapter for him to have written out in this vein, possibly pass it my way and we can discuss whether it might have happened?
I'll probably be back to full speed come Monday. Merlyn will not. He is dead. Goodbye, Merlyn.
(ping me here or on Plurk if you have any threads with him you'd like to do backdated before his death)
