This Week In The Arena.

That's right everyone. One day of Arena 08 down, and wasn't it a doozy?! Its great to see some classic faces in among the ranks, with the return of six past victors, including recent arena winner Maximus Decimus Meridius. There's the old saying 'break a leg' for good luck, but that seems mildly inappropriate at present date so maybe we'll just settle on the classic.

For the largest cornucopia in Hunger Games history, the death toll was not nearly as high as many anticipated. Only a few fallen tributes, but a healthy dose of injuries, we're pretty sure that jungle is going to put people at a high risk of infection. Slow kills are sometimes the worst to watch, don't you think?

Two hours into the arena, we saw the sonic fences turn on for the first time. The fences work on a grid pattern and are scheduled to turn on and off in two hour intervals, though we imagine they also function at gamemakers discretion. As of right now, they seem to be working like clockwork. We imagine this is going to be a fun obstacle to watch in the upcoming weeks.

Not long after the tributes arrival to the field, cameras all across the western region of the island showed heavy and curious movement toward the island interior. Our gamemaker insider says, with some glee, that these 'raptors' were designed to be both curious and aggressive. We're really looking forward to seeing what challenges they present our tributes in the coming future.

We also picked up a few hints about why that cornucopia cache might have been so large. All organic life inside the arena is incompatible with human physiology, and ingesting most substances will cause a significant allergic reactions with potential risk of anaphylactic shock. We're sure some of them are about to learn real quick that those mangoes are off the menu!

Life In The Capitol.

There's no doubt about it that everything from the newest arenas, the hottest tributes and sometimes yesterday's afternoon tea can inspire fashion trends of today. Right now, it's all about autumn and looking fabulous in those layers. Bloody reds and screaming yellows bring in the real spirit of the approaching holiday.

With Halloween just around the corner, you can bet there is a festive mood in the air. Even after the recent city-wide events, spirits are high. Though some areas were hit a little harder than others, damage repairs are already well under way. But that hasn't stopped city favourite, Glacialis, from completing its seasonal interior redesign in preparations for some frighteningly fabulous festivities.

Both Don and Jack are currently jacked with supplies, and are looking for their friends/allies/enemies/etc. Neither are injured in any substantial way from the cornucopia, as of the time of this comment.

Homura, meanwhile, is without supplies but looking to remedy that. She is also looking for her allies as well, namely Sigma at this time. And if she sees Max and Wyatt she might creep above them in the trees because. Why not.

R || WARM BODIES

His first week is probably wandering out looking for friends and bumping into people new and old. Basically he'd be lugging around some supplies (like, a lot. He made out like a bandit) but he can be easily talked into handing it over. Or straight out having some of it stolen from him, if you want to get up close to a zombie. I think he might be losing his jaw at the end of Week 1? Possibly week 2.

I likely won't have him attack unless player requested - he's started out the Arena this time NOT hungry.

She came away from the Cornucopia with a tidy heap of food, two weapons, and a head injury. She'll be looking for familiar faces and alliances with anyone friendly... but with the head injury, she might not recognize friendly gestures. And if she thinks she's threatened, she'll fight back with deadly force.

If anyone wants to bestow the head injury on her at the Cornucopia, I am open for plotting!

Holiday and Gambit

Holiday is enjoying the area, oddly enough. She's actually kind of in her element in this place. She's willing to help people, keep friends close, and possibly kill someone if absolutely needed.

Gambit has made out like a millionaire, but he's weighed down. He's willing to help others and give away a few of his things. Not sure if he's cool on hanging out with someone, but cr can find a way. He's also armed and well-trained. He'll think twice about killing someone, but I wouldn't recommend anyone chance it.

Wyatt Earp

Wyatt has met up with Max and the plan for right now is for them to travel together, but Wyatt's always available for bumping into other folks along the way. Positive and negative CR welcome. Let's be real, there are lots of folks with bones to pick over Max, so come at him. Also, while he isn't big with the killing, but if your character is the type to strike first, he will defend himself and could be available for your injuring/deathly needs.

Maximus / Sherlock / Ellie

Maximus is hanging out with Wyatt and you might need a crowbar to separate them but you are more than welcome to try. Also he's kind of stumbling around on his prosthetic leg, so. If you want him to try to kill your character and fail, now would be the time, though he's not out hunting right yet.

Sherlock is with John and Joan, the former of who was injured pretty badly in the cornucopia. he knows everything is poisonous so if you want your character to get a heads up before they go into anaphylactic shock.

Ellie currently doesn't have any plans - she managed to escape with her life, some rotted wood and some further rotting apples so she will definitely be trying to steal / beg supplies.

Aunamee is not above killing or maiming people for their weapons, since he did not run for the cornucopia. He's a great guy.

Joan Watson

Joan is with Sherlock and John, but I am up for having her bump into other people as well. I'd like to keep her around, so no lethal encounters (yet!) but threatening ones are fine :)

Adelaide & Redglare

Adelaide made out like a bandit at the Cornucopia but she is weighed down by it. She headed straight for the jungle and is going to be staying there for the first week or so. She also won't hesitate to get her murder on plus a gallon of ranch dressing she's not using and would probably think it's fun to pour it over people walking under her to attract raptors.

Redglare got rotten wood and rotten apples. She's basically supply-less and camping out in the forest, which is an advantage for her since she literally raised in a tree. She's going to be laying out some traps (nooses made out of vines) so if anyone wants their characters get injured/die my girls are both available.

CRIES totally should have asked this earlier but: for the killer vines in the forest floor, are they able to crawl inside tents or strangle people inside sleeping bags or something similar?
