Arena Update.

The third button has been pressed. Week three ends and week four begins with a deafening cacophony of bombs. Only one portion of the arena has been targeted but it that portion has all been completely wiped out. The City sections are left to ash and ruin.

Burn Baby Burn

The leaves of the trees rustle in the wind. It is not a gentle breeze. It's a harsh and inconsistent, coming in such short bursts that... it may no truly be wind at all.

The dragons, while not particularly friendly before, stir themselves into a frenzy this week. In fact, none of the beasts are particularly friendly, going on raging rampages, but none of them have the ability to burn down large sections of the the arena like the dragons do.

The forest burns, and the rest of the fantastical land too, at least until the winter storm freezes it back over. This goes on for the week, until every dragon has succumbed to flame or ice and all tall-standing structures are blackened over.

The Blackout

It happens one day during week four. The weather in the sky seems... off. Different from the usual pattern of storms. It builds stronger than ever, promising more chaos. And it delivers.

Lightening shoots down, connecting the arena ground to the ceiling. Anyone within vincity of the strike may very well meet death through it, or if that, then the falling metal parts that crumble on down.

All at once, the arena goes dark. But not exactly on your side, no. On the side of the Capitol and every District in Panem. What happens to the Games if no one watches? At last, everyone can find out. It will be a 72 hour period where no arena participating Tribute is monitored. You can take the time off. You can claim those kills you don't want people to know you committed. Or perhaps you have far more rebellious intentions...

Arya has taken to the forest, if anyone else is in that area and wants to meet up? She also has a ton of supplies (including 2 tents) if anyone wants to tag along with her for a while or just rest up. She's also, as always, available to kill or wound anyone at all if needed!

It is frankly criminal that I haven't threaded Éowyn with Arya at all this Arena. I'm going to go throw her at Arya's open now, but do you want to plan anything with them post-Sansagate?

And I think it could be really interesting to throw Alain at her at some point, too, given how he died last Arena and all. Thoughts?

NPC kids interested in a rescue!

OR other rebels breaking into the arena if you want to team up! ...or possibly any Tributes in the area who want a quick run in? I'm not sure how that'll work.

But yes, Sam'll be back in the arena for a little bit getting his pararescue on! If any NPC players would like their kids grabbed by him/anyone wants a team up/anything at all, I'm up for anything! Either handwaved or threaded out, I'm all over it.

Rescuing NPCs

Peggy decided to go with the offworlders on this trip as a demonstration of Panem's support and to encourage unity in D13 (since she doesn't like the idea of just making them feel like outsiders within the rebellion), so she'll be around to pick up kids. She knows what they're going through, so you can expect a very understanding woman who is ready to deal with it if kids end up mistaking her for a threat and attack her. Who wants to be saved?

Also, she's there to mingle with other rescuers or people she can meet in the arena, so there you are. Come have fun with her.

Deni won't be as much of a handful as some of the others might be when it comes to the rescue, but will probably be kind of wary because ffff rebel scum rescuing the step-daughter of a Capitolite. So if anyone wants to come rescue an unsure, freaked out 16 year old, lemme know!

Or if anyone wants to do anything pre-rescue, I'm going to probably put up a catch all this week.

I'd especially like Roland to kill one of the npc kids at one point, but I recognize that might not be possible after the rescue. I'd love for him to either kill or team up with someone, either during D13 mission shenanigans or when dealing with rampaging animals (or rampaging DRAGONS dragons omg dragons).

yasssss a lotr character seems extra appropriate for this. My go-to tactic is to have Roland climb onto the big shit and stab it in the eye, but he did that with the lake monster in another arena so should they go for a different tactic here?

Rooolaaaaand. We've got our other thread going still, but would you like anything this week? Karkat's gonna be in the forest so oh god DAMN it dragons, he is not up for this. And you know how Roland was worried for him and being alright and wow this kid is obviously down about something? That something happened and now he murdered a kid permanently and he is going to be off. So, want to deal with that?

If not/if you'd prefer to just stick with the current thread, they can always catch up post-arena, too. Karkat will still be dealing with things then.

Éowyn is going to be fighting dragons. Like, that's not even in question at this point. If anyone would like to team up with her/be saved by her/try to convince her not to fight the giant fiery death monsters, hmu! Otherwise, she's going to be continuing to try and protect the District kids until the rescue. When they are rescued, I'd be interested in playing out her reaction (which is liable to be borderline hysterical relief), if anyone with existing CR would be up for that?

Sansa is dying this week, probably at Ford's hands. I'm going to put up an open for her tonight, but in general, I'm up for anything - I've dropped the ball with her in this Arena, so I'd like to get some CR in (probably backdated) before she leaves.

Alain is also in desperate need of CR. I'd like him to kill some peeps, especially, so if anyone has deaths in mind, I'm open. Otherwise, he'll be setting up a sniper position and aiming to take down those dragons. Because reasons.

Hemlock should be having an open post up soon, backdated to before the rescue, so hmu if there's anything you'd like to do with an angry District kid.

He'd be new CR but I saw Eowyn has been helping out Bacopa, who Steve has been also watching out for - if you'd be interested maybe we could have them meet sometime after the rescue?

Karkat's gonna be in the forest, so prime location for him to run into Éowyn or Alain! I'd love stuff with either or both of them, and I'm already planning to throw him at Sansa.

In any case he's gonna be kind of out of it and not exactly cheery given the whole... Maglev dying and him killing Sheen. Which happened back in week 2, but it's the kind of thing that lingers.

No Eowyn what r u doin dragons are terrifying. But yes I know the other thread we have is only a few posts in, but I could offer Jack for either dragon encounters or the other thing if you wanted 8)? IDK that and/or Alain and Jack could run into each other!

Death plotting

I'm looking for people to help plan Luna's death this week!

Notes on this: Luna's a pretty easy target (she's smart and can run/defend, but is strictly nonviolent) and she's more invested in aiding others than her own survival in the Games due to reasons. She's also got a first aid kit from sponsor drops and the background to put it to use. Ideally I'd like to have her death involve trying to help or save someone, like taking a hit or getting caught unawares while treating an injury - maybe even for one of the NPC kids during the blackout/rescue? Actually making a difference/saving lives is optional, though, because such is her life.

If there aren't any takers I can just have her get killed by dragons or debris, but I figured this would be more fun (i.e., dramatic).

He's got a sickle and a hunting knife, but short-range like this is prooobably not the best for fighting those. He'll be hecked up still about Maglev and Sheen's deaths from week 2, and basically so not up for these shenanigans.

Ditto if anyone wants rebel stuff during the blackout, because Karkat is definitely on the rebel side. If he can help, if anyone wants to talk dissentious stuff, etc, lemme know!

Two NPCs in need of saving!

Bacopa is a distrustful child, but she's with AU Steve. She will need a little talking into it because she's afraid of defying the Capitol, but Steve being there will make it easier if he helps talk her into it. She'll be blunt about how little she believes in the rebellion's chances, but she'll eventually be brought along and will prompt them to rip the tracker out of her arm.

Char is harder to pin down because she will be afraid that leaving the arena will provoke the Capitol into killing her family. She'll need someone who can talk her down or she will try to run because, as much as she wants to live, she wants her family to live more.
