Arena Update.
There's A Hunger In The Land
There is an uneasy calm in the air now as the arena attempts to recover from its plague. But the plague is not all that is missing. Food is scarce this week, many of the animals having fallen to illness, and more still having simply disappeared. Not even the rotted castle food shows within the great hall this week.
Tributes best hope there a sponsors willing to pay the price of food for them, or else they'll be stuck feeling the effects of starvation. The wolves and other beasts who have lost their prey trek in closer to the village and fields. The remaining horses from the early weeks have all fallen to illness, starvation, hunting, and vanishing all together. But one remains.
A starved looking dark horse wanders through the arena. Any food left behind dissolves in its wake. As the week goes on, those crests in the castle rust even more and Honor will become Fames.
The Witches are Coming
Is that the smell of gingerbread in the air? Or maybe it's the meowing of black cats that you hear.
Tribute's had better be on guard as temptation is coming their way this week in the form of candy houses, sweet flowers, red apples and every other fairy tail trap you can imagine (there's even a rather shiny spindle lying around). These traps are meant to beguile and lure Tribute's, confusing their sensibilities so they'll leave logic behind to make themselves vulnerable.
The Witches, black-robed wraiths, are waiting for them to make a mistake. These creatures are physically frail but incredibly quick, they what's left of those villagers who were punished for the use of powers before the arena started. When a victim has fallen into their trap they will swoop down on the unsuspecting Tribute , killing them with a cruel parody of a fairytale kiss by exhaling poison from their rotted lungs into their victims mouths before leaving them to die in writhing agony.
Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?
It starts with a howl in the distance. Any Tribute's venturing too far out from the castle are going to find themselves hunted by a beast of terrible size and appetite. It's even worse at night when the wolf, easily as big as a house, stalks through the village accompanied by its smaller brethren who have grown bolder with their big brother at hand. The only true chance for safety at night that Tribute's have now is to be inside the castle.
Anyone wearing red had better be doubly wary, as the wolf seems to think they're the tastiest prey of all. It will even abandon the chase of one Tribute to attack another if they're dressed in that colour.
The wolf is too big and powerful to die at the hands of one Tribute alone, it's going to take a group of you. At the end of the week the wolf will charge into the courtyard of the castle as night approaches and there, trapped within the walls, the Tribute's will have the opportunity to finally take it down.
You have until 11:59pm Eastern time on Wednesday to sign-up to battle the wolves. Those who have signed up will be rolled with the following odds: 25% chance of death (no buy out), 25% chance of injury (can be treated with medical supplies), 50% chance of walking away relatively unharmed! And those of you who leave the fight alive will earn a FREE PARACHUTE OF SUPPLIES! If you successfully face down the wolves, the sponsors at home will give you the gift of your choice! You get to choose from the following options:
1 - One week supply of fresh food & water, a fire starting kit, deluxe medical supply kit, a fresh change of clothing (includes underwear & socks), and one sleeping bag.
2 - One week supply of fresh food & water, one sleeping bag, and one small rondel knife.
3 - An early Arquebuse with plentiful ammunition.
All options will arrive in a waterproof backpack with the Tribute's name embroidered on it. There will be a thread for sign-ups below.
Back To The Crumbs On The Table
Just as inevitable as death and the rolling weeks, Wednesday returns once more. But this time is different. Any who walk in on the feast this week will be shocked to discover that... there isn't one. There's no food upon the table, not a drink in site. Even the Avoxes are absent, though the plates have been left out completely empty. Starvation may well be imminent. Perhaps it's time to beg.
