I'd totally be up for that, anyway. Alain isn't the world's fastest runner, but he's good at traps. And if they had the masks, then that in itself might stop him from killing Altair. If Altair surrendered to him, he wouldn't kill him, either. He wants to be practical, but he can't shut off his conscience that easily.
