Hey there! It's Smurf, coming in with another character. This is a Victor AU of one Peggy Carter, originally of MCU fame, here to mentor the poor souls of D10.

Peggy is a tough woman with all the determination of an angry bull, but she knows how to play nice with others, so she'll fit right in. Capitolites can expect a model victor who will pay all due praise to the Capitol, tributes can expect a direct, no-nonsense mentor to talk them through the dangers of the arena, and D13ers can expect a loyal spy who's been working for them for years.

She's also got a nasty but super sensationalized history. She won her games by stabbing herself in the stomach, so she's earned some nicknames from that. More information on her history is here, but be forewarned: her history is tied up with the bidding process, and her primary mode of gaining information is complying with bids on her. I don't intend to bring that up willy nilly, but just to be safe, I have an opt out post on my journal if you want to avoid her. Since she's a mentor, she also has a handy dandy contact post for anyone who wants to get in touch.

I'd love to hash out any backstory with Panem citizens, and I can't wait to play with everyone!

He was in 10 forever before he won, and is now rebelling it up in 13. It's much too perfect. 8D

They'll meet at some point. Peggy spies for D13, so maybe they'll be put in communication at some point.

Hi! I've got this District 6 Victor here. I just read your app, loved it, and enthusiastically want some previous CR. Even if her squeaky-clean reputation prevents her from associating too closely with addicts and trainwrecks (which I would totally understand!) he's been a Victor since the 63rd Games and would likely at least have a familiar professional relationship with her unless she's actively avoided it. Linden tends to gravitate toward other Victors since many of them share his vices or at least know what a Mentor's job training is like from experience.

I'd love previous CR! Peggy also tends to gravitate towards other Victors, since it's difficult to find anyone else with shared life experience, and the fact that he's a trainwreck wouldn't bother her too much since it's not weird for Victors to hang out with other Victors regardless of respective hot mess status. She would avoid any talk of rebellion and steer conversations away from it to preserve her image, but otherwise, she'd be up for keeping in touch. What kind of CR were you thinking?

Well, I am open to a heck of a lot! In addition to both being Victors, Linden and Peggy each had kind of sensationalized wins that almost killed them; Peggy impaled herself, and Linden's throat was slit by his ally Scorpii Cronen seconds before Linden shoved him back and impaled him on a stalagmite. (Because I am a little bit nuts and tend to go all-in, here are his subterranean Games In more detail.) As a throwback to L's canon, I modeled District 2's Scorpii loosely off of Death Note's Light Yagami, with a similar appearance, high intelligence and charm in spades, and because their time as allies ranged from petulant to friendly to manipulatively romantic, it was a dynamic enough relationship to cause quite an upset when they tried to kill each other. Linden has essentially been in an obsessive state of mourning since, and though he is relatively scrawny and unattractive especially after years of a wasting morphling addiction, a certain kind of bidder is absolutely enamoured with the drama and passion in his arena and wants to reenact it with him. In short, Linden's bidders have tapered off a lot in recent years, but the ones he has gotten are not the healthiest souls and they do nothing to help him move on with their kinky roleplay fantasies. These details are a closely-guarded staff secret in 6 (Stephen has helped him get out of bids a few times things have gotten traumatic or violent since Linden will lash out and that is awful for getting sponsors), but if there is kinship and shared identity with Peggy, I can see him having trusted her with the information (and for future reference if there is anything she would like to have confided in him, bidding and everything that goes with it are cool with me as approachable topics if you would like to explore or flesh out these aspects of her character in more detail.)

If he trusted Peggy with those details, she would have given him scraps of details as well, especially if he approached her early on when she was still reeling either from the arena or from the arena and the subsequent loss of her family and two best friends. Peggy's bidders have a bigger range because she's a very attractive woman, but there are people who fantasize about 'breaking' her because of what a strong show she put in the arena and out for the public, so they like to hurt and demean her.

Most commonly, she gets bidders who have fetishized the scars she got from her win, either the ones on her neck or the ones going from her stomach to her back. Or I should say that they've fetishized whatever they imagine the scars to be, since Peggy is careful to not reveal them unless her scarf would get in the way of something (like sparring or if she's working with machinery or something). They make a big deal out of making her show off her scars, but they're never satisfied with what they are. They're always too ugly, especially the ones around her stomach and back, and they're either too gruesome or not gruesome enough. This has caused Peggy to feel more and more detached from her body, and it makes her have this weird sense that no matter what she does, the scars are always going to define her.

Peggy would have been open to hearing about Linden's bidding trouble and would have been ready to step in and try to distract him from it. I think the only thing she would say about her own bidding experiences beyond that they happen all the damn time is that "They think they want the scars, but then they realize they don't." I would like to flesh out her reactions to the bidding more, because it's part of her character arc and it'll be one that's difficult to handle, since I don't want to spring it on anyone who isn't comfortable with it.

If her Arena came not long after his (he won the 63rd Games) he would almost certainly approach her shortly after; he's got a very puzzle-solving and logic-oriented mindset and would have noticed similarities between their Arenas' outcomes from very early on and attempted to reach out. He's got one large notable scar tearing across his throat from his Games, and he also has strong aversions and associations with it; a contributing incident that got him sent to rehab (explaining his absence before I apped him) was a bidder breaking one of his rules and touching his neck, which, in addition to sudden grabbing, is a huge no. He would likely have encouraged her to established "rules" of her own for bidders and to work with her escorts to ensure that they were enforced, insisting that as long as you have some control and small islands of dignity, degradation is easier to cope with. She'd probably see his faith in that strategy tested over the ensuing arenas and definitely notice, along with everyone else, that he's progressively losing his battles with addiction year after year.

His parents are Avoxes and this is an even bigger secret, but for this reason I think he would also have early-on empathy regarding the loss of her family and friends.

I'm definitely open to a distracting/healing dynamic with both of them, because goodness knows it's something Victors need and there's plenty of opportunities for them to reconnect now that they're both involved in the Games again. I'm off to tag her post if all this looks good to you. :)

Peggy's games would have been either the 66th or the 67th. If that's early enough, she would have taken his advice to heart and remembered him as someone who tried to help her during the worst years of her life. It would be difficult, since some of her bidders would steamroll any rules she would try to make, but it would help her to know that she can at least try to dig in her heels and put in limits.
